Spellbound Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 July 2026

1. Overview

This privacy policy applies to the Spellbound Android application (“Spellbound”, “the app”) developed by Parishod. It explains what data the app accesses, how that data is used, and what choices you have.

Spellbound works fully offline. Everything you type, save, or customize stays on your device. The app never reads your phone numbers, contacts, or call logs — it only detects that a call is active, so its in-call bubble can appear.

2. Data we collect

Spellbound does not collect any personal data. Specifically:

  • We do not collect, transmit, or store any data on remote servers.
  • We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
  • We do not have user accounts and we do not ask you to sign in.
  • We do not sell or share any data with third parties.

3. Data the app accesses on your device

To do its job, Spellbound accesses certain information that remains on your device:

  • Call state (optional). If you enable the in-call bubble, the app uses Android’s phone-state permission to detect only the call state — ringing, in a call, or ended — so the bubble can appear during calls and disappear afterwards. It never reads phone numbers, contacts, or call logs. The bubble is off by default and is enabled through an explicit onboarding flow in Settings.
  • Display over other apps (optional). The in-call bubble requires the “display over other apps” permission to draw the floating chat-head on screen during calls.
  • Notifications (optional). The app may post its own notifications: the foreground-service notification Android requires while the bubble is shown, and a tap-to-open shortcut when a call arrives while the screen is locked.
  • Text you type or save. Text you spell, saved queries, and customized code words are stored in the app’s private storage on your device. They are never uploaded or transmitted anywhere.
  • Text-to-speech. The “Speak” feature uses your device’s on-device speech engine and works offline; the text being spoken does not leave your device through Spellbound.

If you never enable the in-call bubble, the app requests none of the optional permissions above — the Quick Settings tile and the main app work without any of them.

4. Data storage and retention

Spellbound stores its data in the app’s private storage on your device. You can clear it at any time by clearing the app’s data through Android settings, or by uninstalling the app, which removes all data Spellbound has stored.

5. Children’s privacy

Spellbound is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

6. Changes to this policy

Spellbound does not collect any data today. If that ever changes — for example, if a future version introduces optional cloud sync, crash reporting, or other features that involve data leaving your device — this privacy policy will be updated before those features ship, and you will be informed in a clear and conspicuous way (for example, an in-app notice). We will also describe exactly what is collected, why, where it is sent, and how to opt out where applicable.
